fosters innovation
for living longer & aging better
WHAT WE DO
WHO WE ARE
AGENCY is a consulting service and ecosystem-builder to scale innovative solutions for the world's aging populations. We collaborate with older adults, innovators, aging services providers, stakeholders, industry leaders, startups, company executives, and policymakers to spark new ideas, reduce friction, validate pilots, and provide pathways to commercialization. AGENCY produces flagship events that feature thought leaders, foster cross-sector conversations, and showcase agetech innovations. AGENCY works with enterprises to advance their strategic initiatives by sourcing solutions that serve their customers as they age. AGENCY's innovation community gives oxygen to ideas, optimism to older adults, and fuels company growth, with a mission to attract more innovators to the field.
We'd love to collaborate with you to:
-
advance the science of healthy and purposeful longevity,
-
design products that bring agency and joy, not stigma
-
solve for possibilities, not just problems,
-
blend high-touch with high-tech for solutions that can scale,
-
promote age-friendly communities and business practices, and
-
make the aging journey better for all.
AGENCY spawned from a hackathon produced by Danielle D. Duplin and Carrie Allen at the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) in 2016, in partnership with SOMPO Digital Labs, the second-largest insurance provider and senior living operator in Japan. The creative ideas that emerged addressed a broad range of needs, with innovative possibilities that could make a real difference -- from low-tech public awareness campaigns on senior loneliness, to high-tech solutions for medicine management and care coordination, to advanced diagnostics and biotech treatments for chronic illnesses. Moreover, the diversity was a strong signal that entrepreneurs in all sectors are drawn to this dynamic and growing aging market with world-scale potential. Inspired by their enthusiasm and opportunity, Danielle and Carrie convened stakeholders and launched AGENCY with a generous grant from Governor Charlie Baker of Massachusetts and Secretary Alice Bonner of the Executive Office of Elder Affairs, the executive leadership of CIC Cambridge Innovation Centers, the Massachusetts eHealth Institute, and Benchmark Senior Living, along with an inaugural cohort of agetech startups in a sunny coworking space in the newly minted CIC at 245 Main St. in Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA "the most innovative square mile on the planet". <press release>
Over the decade, AGENCY produced dozens of in-depth thought leadership events, Danielle keynoted summits and led panel discussions with the Global Coalition on Aging, UK Research & Investment, Brigham & Women's Hospital, AARP, d.Health, M2D2, etc., launched the Founders Over 55+ Club for older entrepreneurs, coached hundreds of agetech startups, consulted with Fortune 500 enterprises like P&G to advance their strategic objectives for understanding and reaching older customers, and expanded nationally to curate and produce agetech thought leadership programming with the new AgeTech Collaborative from AARP at flagship international tech conferences like CES, HLTH, and ViVe in Las Vegas, and AgeTech Summits in Washington, D.C..
And now, Danielle has teamed up with Kate Brigham, AgeTech product executive, entrepreneur, and investor, to offer strategic consulting, concierge connections, and AgeTech Showcase events, as part of the fast-growing AgeTech Connect innovation network in a dozen major cities. AGENCY is partnering with Deaconess Abundant Life Services -- a trusted CCRC pillar in the New England community serving seniors since 1889 -- to reimagine the future of aging. Together, we are building an agetech cluster that fosters innovation for long, healthy lifespans, joyspans, and age-friendly communities worldwide.
